Frequently asked questions about Next Layer Sports

What is Next Layer Sports?

Next Layer Sports (NLS) is a platform for sports Organizations -- clubs, academies and similar operators -- to run Programs, Groups and Training, and for families to register their Players, book Training, pay online and stay in touch through Team Chat. The Organization provides the sports activities; NLS provides the software.

Who has an account?

Parents and Guardians, and the people who run an Organization (its Owner, Admins and Coaches). Players themselves do not have accounts: a Player is managed by their Guardians and by the Organization(s) they belong to. One person can be both a parent and a staff member.

How does my child join a club?

From the club's public page you can ask to join (when the club accepts requests), use a join link or join code the club gave you, or accept an invitation the club sent to your email. A request from the public page is reviewed by the club, and you are notified when it is decided. An invitation adds your child right away, and so does a join link or code the club set up to skip review, unless the club needs to confirm a detail first.

How do payments work?

When a club takes payments online, you pay by card on a Stripe checkout page and the money goes to the club's own Stripe account. Some clubs also record payments made in person (cash or check). Every Guardian of the Player gets a confirmation. Refunds and cancellations are decided by the club. A card payment refunded through NLS goes back to the card; a refund for a payment made in person is paid by the club outside NLS and recorded in NLS. Guardians are notified of each refund.

Which emails will I receive?

Sign-in codes, invitations, payment confirmations and refunds, and notifications about registrations, bookings, sessions, membership and Guardian requests. From Settings you can turn off the emails for participation, membership, Guardian and Organization-operations notifications; security, payment, invitation and sign-in emails always arrive. Team Chat is never emailed, and we send no marketing.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings and choose Delete account; a one-time code sent to your email confirms it. If you own an Organization, first transfer it to another of its staff members (an Admin or Coach). Your profile and sign-in are removed; records that belong to a club (registrations, payments, chat messages you sent) stay with the club and show a "Former member".

How do I get help?

Use the contact page. Questions about a specific club's Programs, schedules or refunds are best sent to the club through its own contact form on its public page.
